The MISASA "Four Corners" Wild Coast Gaggle Galaxy
Organising Committee: Donald Hicks, Andrew Strydom, Robert Gassman and Alan Mackenzie.
E-mail nemo@webo.co.za if you want to join the organising committee.
In July/August the Gaggle Galaxy will convene as it has done for some years now. Members may e-mail the Editor at nemo@webo.co.za with their availability to be a MISASA "Four Corners" Buddy. MISASA will promote an international exchange programme via CIMA. Pilots from the "Four Corners" of the world will be invited to attend the convening of an International Gaggle Galaxy. Local MISASA Buddies will accommodate international pilots in their homes and pay for all their expenses after arrival. The Wild Coast Fly-away will commence with pilots flying with their international buddies to the Wild Coast venue from their home airfields around the country. A few days of hangar talk and sardine migration "fly abouts" will follow after which the Gaggle Galaxy will fly the SA Coastline from the Wild Coast to the Mozambique border and then they will return and fly south along the coastline to Port Edward from where the Gaggles will break to fly home.
In return for hosting an international buddy MISASA Buddies will be invited to attend an aviation event in the home country of their Buddy. Thus, at the price of hosting an international pilot for 10 days and the cost of your overseas air ticket MISASA Buddies get to enjoy the local fly away in the company of a foreign pilot plus they get all their expenses paid for after arrival to go to an internation airshow, fly-way etc.
Any Aero Club member may join in by joining a Gaggle for the fly away. The Galaxy will be made up of Gaggles of aircraft that fly at the same speed. In this way local pilots will experience "Hangar talk" from the "Four Corners" of the world.
What is Microflight Africa's Motivation for initiating three events during 2012?
The answer is to promote Fun events that build Camaraderie (locally and internationally) in a way that adds value to our sport of recreational aviation i.e. To promote friendship and fellowship and to advocate MISASA. Tedderfield was the Microflight Africa event 1 of 3 and the "Four Corners" is event number 2.
Tedderfield Wrap Up
The consensus of opinion on the Tedderfield Event was that it was an awesome day. It was designed to be a marketing opportunity for suppliers and a walk and see more day for aviator's that produced a brag list of aircraft that we will be bragging about. Yes, it was a win:win day for all - thank you to all that made it happen.
