On June the 15th the Wildcoast Gaggle Galaxy will convene as it has done for some years now. It is however an option to have a small "twist" to add value to all. Instead of it being only a Wild Coast fly about, it is proposed that it take the form of an East Coast tour as well. The tour is primartly to promote an exchange programme with local and international pilots. Further, as with the Wildcoast Gaggle Galaxy, it will be open to all sections of the Aero Club.
Members may e-mail the Editor at nemo@webo.co.za with their availability to be a MISASA "Four Corners" Buddy.
MISASA will promote an international exchange programme via CIMA. Pilots from the "Four Corners" of the world will be invited to attend the convening of an International Gaggle Galaxy. Local MISASA Buddies will accommodate international pilots in their homes and pay for all their expenses after arrival. In short, the BUDDY pays only for the airfare to get here.
In return for hosting an international buddy, the MISASA Buddies will enjoy a reciprical gesture and be invited to attend an aviation event in the home country of their Buddy. Thus, at the price of hosting an international pilot for 10 days and the cost of your overseas air ticket, the MISASA Buddies get to enjoy the overseas fly away in the company of a foreign pilot.
If however, the buddy is a local pilot then the reciprical exchange will be at the descretion of the two "Buddies" but will certainly include the hosting at the 2013 "Spoilt for Choice" Leader Board Shootout which will be a two day week-end event.
The "Four Corners" event invites any Aero Club member to request to join a Gaggle for the fly away. The Galaxy will be made up of Gaggles of aircraft that fly at the same speed. In this way local pilots will experience "Hangar talk" from the "Four Corners" of the world and from pilots that fly from the full range under the AeroClub, (balloons, model aircraft, hang gliders etc). We are the largest section of the Aero Club and we undertake and promote strongly an "open door" policy to other sections.
What is Microflight Africa's Motivation for initiating three events during 2012?
The answer is to promote Fun events that build Camaraderie (locally and internationally) in a way that adds value to our sport of recreational aviation i.e. To promote friendship and fellowship and to advocate MISASA. Tedderfield was the Microflight Africa event 1 of 3 and the "Four Corners" is event number 2.
